Alright, well I kinda have to do something for a grade, and I was surfing around the web, and thinking of my day. I was going through first period in my head, when I realised you guys were missing out on some of the coolest things you can do with java. my friend Sullivan and I get really bored, so we look up stuff, trying to find ways to play games on the computers, without proxy sites or anything. What did we come across? Alot. Thanks for reading my little annecdote.
Well for one, you can use the Eclipse development tool to make mobile phone games. Yes, CELL PHONE games. I actually have a little pong one I made following a tutorial I found. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
Some cool things I've found with java, are embedding it in web pages for your friends and family, who may not have a compiler/virtual machine, to look at it and be proud of your hard work. The easiest way to do this is with bluej, or greenfoot, at least, according to one of my sources. So far though, my BlueJ is not really working too well on my laptop, so I will check it in class soon. Update: I could not figure out a way to export a package to an html page with bluej.
Here are instructions for putting your greenfoot folders into a webpage.
1. Open the scenario you wish to include in that webpage.
2. Go to File->Export->Webpage(the second option)
3. Choose where you wish for the exported page to be saved.
4. Click "Export" and wait for the program to finish writing the page.
5. Once the file has been written, navigate to wherever you saved it, and open the "your filename-export" folder.
6. You will see two files, one is the HTML page, and one is the .class file. Upload both to your server, or whatever you wanna do.
Here's a pic....if the school computers weren't so stupid, the program would have actually been showing up and running
